Hello lovely patrons,

By popular request - I'm excited to bring you this photo deconstruction! I highly recommend watching the video to fully understand what's going on.

Also, here's a link to the projector I'm using. I've also attached from jpeg files to this post to get you started without having to make your own shapes.

Key Takeaways:

  • A portable projector can be used to create double exposure photos
  • Preparation and practice are key to achieving the desired effect
  • Choosing the right shapes and positioning them correctly is important
  • Directing the subject and paying attention to details like shutter speed and focus are crucial
  • The projector's brightness can create a dramatic effect by overwhelming the background

Hello lovely patrons... this is one for absolutely everyone to read and take note, because it has to do with file corruption... something we are all susceptible to.  I've outlined my entire workflow many times here over the years, along with my review of preferred memory cards (Sony tough), but recent viral posts about how photographers manage memory cards & file backups sparked the inspiration for this post.  In an indirect way, lightroom actually has built in detection for file corruption, which is something (to my knowledge) no other editing platform contains. The method of detection is simply rendering via Smart Previews.

Video explains it all, but this workflow is one step closer to the dream of simply being able to insert your memory card, and come back later to having everything Ai culled, edited, and rendered for you to start your manual pass.  Attached is the code you need to run this in python, and if you already have a NAS that can run python code (or a Mac!) you should be able to open up terminal, navigate to the folder you save the code in, edit the config file w/ your imagen api (just email them asking for an api key), your watched folder LOCAL_MONITOR_PATH, and your imagen profile key, and BOOM... it's running.  This version does not include the Twilio SMS messaging integration, but if you have a Twilio account you can comment or DM me and I'll send you a version that includes that - it's pretty helpful!  If you have no idea how to run code via a terminal then it might be a little tricker than that, but I'll certainly add future tutorials/walk throughs over the next few weeks - especially after I get on device duplicate detection figure out.

Sam Hurd - Flash & Balance // Why You Might Want a Battery Grip

Sam Hurd - Flash & Balance // Why You Might Want a Battery Grip

https://www.patreon.com/posts/flash-balance-110965929
This post is allllll about balance. The video explains it in more detail (and if you have just a few minutes then I highly recommend you watch it), but the main point is that actually adding weight to the overall rig that you're holding can sometimes help with wrist pain.   This is one little nugget of gold that comes up when I talk about bounce flash during my workshops, and something I've been thinking a lot about while reviewing the new Canon R5ii. I'm not particularly happy with the r5ii, but I still haven't hit my 10k threshold yet. Soon enough I'll share my full review here.  Even though I might not keep the r5ii... I've missed the modularity of a a body grip since switching to the permanently gripped r3. The main reason is because the battery grip lowers the overall center of gravity, which is particularly apparent when you throw a speed light on top of your camera, and makes it muuuuuuuch easier on the wrist than a non-grip body that ends up being front heavy.
