I just got back from an amazing workshop in Toronto, one of my favorite cities, especially in the summer. It’s been about six months since I last did a full in-person workshop, and this one was a great way to jump back in. We had a fantastic group, and I spent about eight or nine hours teaching, which was intense but incredibly rewarding.

I just got my hands on the new Canon R1. B&H delivered this to me a couple of days ago, and I've been busy getting used to it, configuring it, and preparing for what's going to be a ten thousand image journey before I write a full review.

The Canon R1 is quite a beast, and it's noticeably larger and heavier—probably about five percent bigger than the Canon R3.

There's a fair number of new people here so I figured it was time to do a little update about my workflow with aftershoot. This is a tool that has become an integral part of my photography workflow since ~2020. If you've been following my work over the past four years, then I'm sure you've heard me mention AfterShoot before. I've been documenting its evolution from the initial alpha stages to its current advanced capabilities!

Diving into the Nikon Z 85mm f/1.2, it's important to note that I don't typically shoot with an 85mm lens. My preference leans towards the 50mm range, with the Canon 50mm f/1.2 being one of my all-time favorites. I have spent some time with the Nikon 50mm f/1.2 Z mount lens, which, despite its excellent performance, is notably larger and heavier than this 85 1.2!

This is a quick and easy one I've wanted to share for a long time and attached to this post you'll find a small collection of my most commonly used aspect ratios for creating image collages like diptychs and triptychs.

The cool thing about these is that they operate within the print module of Lightroom Classic. So you can select and rearrange and change the number of images all within Lightroom itself and then print to file and save it as a JPEG.

There are obviously hundreds of ways you can create diptychs and triptychs, but this is one of the fastest and most efficient for really basic stuff that I find myself using the most often. You should just be able to download the attachments and import them into Lightroom Classic directly.

I, like many, have been curious where the convergence of photo + video might lead us. With the steady improvement of camera gear, eventually it'll be standard to shoot 24+ fps raw footage, where you could theoretically tease out still images from the video clips.  But playing around with access to Sora this morning, I fed a dozen or so of my still images through it, and this is what I got. Audio is captured from their ceremony. Plenty of weird artifacts if you look too closely at any one clip, but give it another few years and… I could see this being the direction things shift, eventually.

The Portrait System - Hearing NO in Sales
The Portrait System - Hearing NO in Sales
https://theportraitsystem.com/course/hearing-no-in-sales/

  • Tammy Zurak left a corporate sales job to start a business as a glamour photographer – which is now thriving! Sue was blown away the first time she heard Tammy’s belief that if a potential client says, “No”, they just haven’t been properly convinced yet. Go through her selling process step by step and you’ll start believing that “No” really means “Not yet.”
  • Providing a service means that it is never about you or what you’re getting. What could you do to help them?
  • Same goes for when connecting with other businesses. “If I was them, what would I need?”
  • Stop acting like this is out of people’s reach. When people want to pay for something, they will find a way to pay for it.

Peter has been loving shooting with his Leica, and has also changed his tune about Lightroom! He used to previously hate it as it changes your file to a DNG, but as the Leica files are already DNG, it is no longer a problem and he has found the Leica tethers perfectly to it. In this tutorial, he will show you his new Leica workflow for 3 different looks with Ana.
