• Garuda typeface, featuring the shape and style based on “Garuda Pancasila”, the state symbol of the Republic of Indonesia. Garuda is a mythical bird in the Javanese puppet stories, is very similar to the eagle.At the typeface we can find more ligatures beside than the standard. Within Garuda at least encoded 792 glyphs per weight onto major codepage: win 1252, 1250, 1254, 1257 including Mac OS Roman. • Felicità is based on the design of my »Ellida« font-family. It was designed with »happiness« in mind. Therefore I used extremely high contrast between the down- and upstrokes, this gives the fonts a lively, happy appearance. I designed two different basic fonts, that can be mixed or used straight (this is number two). Then I designed two different sets of Initials (Initials), middle- and end-swings and added a set of embellishment wings and flowers. Since not everybody uses Open-Type-savy software I designed single fonts to be mixed. Ellida is suited very well to design short captions & for all kinds of invitations, but as you can see here it can used for longer copy as well just give it enough line spacing. Enjoy!

• The art director of Emotion, a women’s psychology magazine, asked me to design a copy typeface for them. Before I actually got the job I started to work on a serif. I wanted it to be feminine but still clear and modern. On one hand there are the floral round elements and on the other hand the angular serifs. In the composition I wanted the two extremes to work together. All the other elements had to be harmonized. The proportions needed to match the magazine’s requirements. The ascenders and descenders are short enough to work in narrow columns but long enough to work in small sizes. As you can imagine, the emotion-job never happened. In copy you should not get heavier than Heavy. Extrabold and Ultrabold work best in display.
