Learn the art and science of building a character rig which is essentially a digital puppet! We offer wide range of flexible and dynamic 3D character rigging courses in Autodesk Maya and Blender going over a broad spectrum of cartoon and realistic character rigs matching today’s industry standard. Our 3D rigging courses are designed for all levels of character riggers and technical animators. Beginning character rigger will be directed to learn specific tools, rigging concepts and technicalities used in character rigging. Below is the summary of all available online 3D rigging training workshops in Maya and Blender! We currently offer Rigging Workshop 1 and 2 training workshops for learning character 3D rigging in Blender.
Workshop 1 (Introduction to Character Rigging & Software Tools) Duration: 5 Weeks Class 1 ~ Introduction of 12 Principles of Animation and Animation tools. Class 2 ~ Animating a Bouncing Ball. Class 3 ~ Animating a Ball with Different Weight. Class 4 ~ Animating a Ball through an Obstacle Course. Class 5 ~ Finishing a Ball through an Obstacle Course. Class 6 ~ Animating a Pendulum. Class 7 ~ Animating a Simple Ball Character. Class 8 ~ Animating a Jump. Class 9 ~ Animating a Simple Walk cycle. Class 10 – 12 ~ Finishing the Walk cycle with Character and Appeal Workshop 2 (Cartoon Character Setup) Duration: 8 Weeks Class 1 ~ Introduction to Body Mechanics. Class 2 ~ Clarity in Blocking. Class 3 ~ Walk through from Blocking to Final. (Animating a character with hip and legs) Class 4 ~ Hip in Depth. Class 5 ~ Walk through from Blocking to Final. Class 6 ~ Weight and Balance. Class 7 ~ Walk through from Blocking to Final. (Animating a full body character) Class 8 ~ Advance Posing. Class 9 ~ Arc and Path of Action. Class 10 – 12 ~ Timing and Spacing. Polishing the animation. With this character rigging course we will learn to build a production ready character rig for film. We will start off by understanding the character, from it’s anatomy to the emotions! Character rigging is a very modular process, hence we categories each section of the body and face to setup an animator friendly rig that delivers superb performance and expression. The first half of the workshop is focused towards building a flexible body rig and the second half of the workshop is geared towards building an expressive facial rig, keeping the puppet very intuitive to work with. Towards the end of the workshop, you will have created a production ready cartoon character rig. Software: Autodesk Maya or Blender
