• Duration: 8 weeks, Skill level: All skill levels welcome, Tiers: Receive direct feedback in class or spectate without homework feedback. Format: 4-5 hour live class with combination of lectures, demos, and feedback. Materials: Any digital or traditional tools. Paintovers will be done digitally

Week 1: Intro to Hard Surface Design – sketching from mechanical reference – hard surface foundations

Week 2: Mecha Design Fundamentals: joints, mechanics, function

Week 3: Mecha Design – Purpose and utility, lecture (form follows function – how to design with purpose)

Week 4: Mecha Details – Lecture: Scale, Details and adding Complexity

Week 5: Vehicle Design fundamentals – Lecture: design principles for vehicles

Week 6: Vehicle Design with function – Lecture: Utilizing reference to design vehicles for specific functions

Week 7: Hard surface prop designs – Lecture: How to design engaging hard surface props for animation and games

Week 8: Lecture: Painting and rendering techniques for Hard Surface – packeting a design for final presentation
