Colleen will discuss the aesthetic evolution of figurative drawing spanning from the Renaissance to the Contemporary art scene, and the distinct differences between the linear and tonal tendencies in art. She will touch upon how artists learn to draw in the western tradition and how certain materials have aided artists given their particular aesthetic temperaments. From ancient cave drawings to Jeff Koons, Colleen's overarching vision encompasses all aspects of drawing in concept and materiality. Colleen’s paintings combine the rigor and sophistication of European Masters with the potency of Contemporary Art.

The single most beneficial skill that I taught myself as a photographer was how to light a scene. I was comfortable working with natural light and all of the problem solving that comes with that type of photography, but studio lighting and the realms of the studio itself was daunting to me. If this sounds like you, then you've landed in the right place.

As always with our "Five Ideas" classes, this class is more about ideas and inspiration than it is a "how-to" video. There are some technical details, of course, but primarily, we discuss the different ways to approach each type of image and show just how attainable stunning high-key and low-key portraits can be with simple kit and a little creativity.

As an artist and designer, Linda Dounia Rebeiz has always used art as a space to play, re-center herself, and take a break from the busy world around her. She harnesses the power of AI to expand her creative possibilities all while investigating its biases and blindspots. After learning that not all AI tools are created equally, she set out to answer some of the big hairy questions that AI poses as it becomes more and more common within the art world. Now, Linda wants to teach you how you can use AI in an ethical and fair way and reclaim it as an art tool in your own practice. In this class, Linda will show you how you can use a range of different AI tools to create unique visuals such as posters, video shorts, and more. You’ll dive into six different mini-projects that combine a range of AI models with creative practices you might already have experience with like collaging, world-building, photography, zine creation, and more.
