• DUAL is a full width sans-serif typeface with an experimental side. Its straight lines and 90 degree angles give it a very geometric feel without hindering its legibility. There are three weights available right now, 100, 300 and 600. An additional 3 weights will be released later this year to complete the family (200, 400 and 500). The idea behind DUAL has been brewing for quite some time, and though there has been many “experimental” released in the past, it does have its unique features. For starters, it is a fully usable and legible font in its original state. Also, its 251 alternate glyphs and 10 stylistic sets are, of course, its main attraction making DUAL a very versatile typeface for any user, from the casual designer to the hardcore artist. • The birth of the monospaced types dates back to the past. There was a need for the creation of typesets for typewriters. The difficulty was to align the different glyphs in the same width. This led to particular problems with letters like “M” and “l”; the former seemed to be squeezed into the same width of all letters and the second one appeared way too stretched. • Stratum is a design solution to what most cripples geometric sans serifs: the lowercase. So commonplace are the blocked and clogged companions to the capitals that one could be forgiven if they were taken for a feature and not a bug of the genre at this point. From a type designers standpoint, their continued presence is perplexing but understandable: forego the geometry and you’re left with a lowercase unlike the capitals. But what to do? Forget the geometric shapes and just make it work? Or maybe Morris Fuller Benton was onto something when he didn’t include a lowercase with Bank Gothic... These are the ideas and frustrations that led to the development of Stratum. As with most projects initiated to solve long-standing problems, the road to a final solution was not direct. And so it was somewhere between scrapping the project altogether and omitting the baseline stem terminations of the b,d,p,q characters that it became clear the geometry itself should be ignored – at least for some of the characters. The solution is simple but effective: merge the oval corners of the lowercase to the stems without breaking the curve while using the geometry as a guide and not a solution. The result is a hybrid of sorts that honors the clean curves of the ovals while delivering a legible lowercase in all six weights.

• PF DIN Mono is the latest addition to the ever-growing set of DIN super-families by Parachute. • Built in 1930 - 1935 by Dutch architect Wolff Schoemaker, the Swarha Islamic Building was originally used as a lodging for the honoured guest country and the journalists for Asia-Africa Conference in 1955. This building has an important role as one of Bandung historical art deco heritage, with the art deco typefaces styles on it’s singage in this building, giving it a more classic west and east taste. Wolff Schoemaker was trying to combine the elements between eastern and western culture in design. One of his works was the Swarha Islamic Building in a circular design with rounded and high dynamic angle. Unfortunately the Swarha Islamic Building has been abandoned and and less attentioned by the local people itself to preserve this historic building. So I'm trying to raise the value of the historical heritage by creating this typefaces.
