The Gnomon Workshop - Introduction to World Machine
In this lecture, Dax Pandhi introduces the fundamentals of procedural terrain generation using World Machine. Dax delves into the essential building blocks of digital terrains and demystifies the seeming complexity of function graphs. The lecture develops through a series of increasingly sophisticated terrain development techniques that utilize procedural noise generators, and collapse the geometric shapes with Stochastic erosion, thermal weathering, coastal erosion, and snow fall. Examples include a dry mountain range, volcano, snowcapped peak, and a coastal cliff. Dax then goes through texturing techniques to create both direct bitmaps for immediate usage, and erosive masks. During the course of these exercises, Dax explains the intricacies of achieving realistic results, and practical techniques such as ad-hoc masking, selective erosion, combining multiple forms of erosion, and cross-breeding filters to create complex, believable effects. Designed for the artist new to World Machine, this lecture provides an invaluable resource from an experienced industry professional.

The Portrait System - Harsh Outdoor Light Hack
Do you constantly find the need to photograph outdoors during the day? As photographers we know the lighting during the day isn’t conducive to most shoots. Tune in to see how Sue tackles this problem with her harsh outdoor light hack.
As you watch, you will see how Sue builds a box that helps to diffuse the harsh lighting from that afternoon sun. You will see how she uses her Vflats or the Skrim in order to get the light diffusion that she is needing. If you arent able to afford a Skrim, that is no problem. Sue shows you another hack that includes a white piece of fabric. She will show you how to set this all up so that you can achieve beautiful light even in the harshest sun. Then, you will be able to sit with Sue as she reviews the photos she was able to capture during her shoot.

Gyms themselves are constantly marketing different promotions they are running. 21-day challenges, strong man training, get bikini fit for Summer and so on. As a photographer, not working with a gym is somewhat of a missed opportunity. You can work with a gym for free. You can do their before and after shots, their shots for promoting, working with their trainers. All you need to ask for in return is that they send you their clients. They will be working with people that have been working hard on fitness goals and when they reach those goals, they would love to have their portrait taken!
