Decoro Tuscan Font
From a quirky, incomplete, uppercase-only typeface found in an old Victorian type specimen, we created a complete font with a reimagined full lowercase set.
New York City: 1850. Our story begins in a steampunk-style alternate universe in which the New York City subway system is established before the turn of the century. Our protagonist is a renowned Italian artiste, disembarking from a transatlantic trip from the Old World and greeted with acclaim in New York. Let’s call him Massimo. His fame precedes him after his success in designing the Milanese horse-powered transportation signage. Now, he is called on to apply his craft to the newly-minted feat of engineering that is the subway of Manhattan. With aplomb, he chooses the consummate type for the job: Decoro Tuscan. Its chiseled stems recall a stately top hat, and its bifurcated serifs curl heavenward like an expertly waxed mustache. Men cheer and women swoon. Why pick rationality when you can embrace style? Why settle for function when you can use — Decoro Tuscan!
