Harir Arabic Typeface

Harir eliminates noise around word shapes by increasing its counter spaces, and making word shapes and letter combinations more consistent. Harir is based on the Naskh calligraphy style, but is designed to work well with or without diacritics.

Hardy Font

Hardy is a display typeface whose circular cuts replace each angled intersection. For every 45° and 90° angle, there is a circle to soften the edge while still maintaining the typeface's chiseled appearance. Each circle's size is determined by the measure of the angle. The result is a largely masculine, yet somewhat awkward geometric face with strong personality.

Akhand Kannada Font Family

Akhand Kannada is a family of 8 compact mono-linear typefaces. The letterforms are dynamic; typically round shapes appear more compact, as their verticals have been flattened. This ‘straightening out’ gives text set in the typefaces a streamlined look. Indeed, Akhand Kannada is designed according to a modular system. All shapes bear a strong commonality to each other, without becoming repetitive. However, the curves in the modules have all been optically corrected, removing the mechanical nature that would otherwise become too dominant.

Happy Times at the IKOB Font Family

In December 2016, german graphic designer Matthias Hübner pitched for the new visual identity of the IKOB, a museum of contemporary art located in Eupen, Belgium. Part of the pitch was the commissioning of a custom typeface, which was planned to be released as an open source license, once it was finished and in use. I was asked to design this typeface as a contemporary rendition of the Times New Roman in two cuts: Regular and Italic.
