• To design a font Kapra, I was inspired by a You And Me Monthly published by National Magazines Publisher RSW „Prasa” that appeared from Mai 1960 till December 1973 in Poland. The font Kapra is designed in eight versions – lower and uppercase characters.

• Aptifer Sans and Aptifer Slab are two 21st century typeface families created by Mårten Thavenius. Each family has seven weights, in roman and italic respectively, making 28 font styles in total. A heritage from two design traditions can be seen in Aptifer. One is the robust American gothic typefaces, like M. F. Benton’s, from around 1900. This is combined with the openness and legibility that comes from the humanist tradition. The sans serif part of the family, Aptifer Sans, is designed without excessive details disturbing the reading. Its sibling Aptifer Slab with its wedge slab serifs is more eye-catching but still suited for text settings. The italics fit well into the text flow of the roman. They are a bit narrower than the roman and have cursive characteristics.

• Decima is a new display face designed in 2008. The designer’s inspiration was a previous creation, PR41, a monoline condensed typeface developed for use on instrument panels. This time, the intention was to create a typeface with a more modern, yet soft, look while retaining PR41 characteristics. Decima is a condensed geometric San Serif, built in three weights and six styles. The letterforms in roman style are techno in appearance, while italics remind one of handwriting (which is evident in lowercase g, y, z whose loops resemble real italics). • Back to 1880-1900 when a number of events were coming together, the country was evolving from a local market economy to mass merchandising, rail systems were being built and color lithography was becoming more affordable. The first rail cars full of oranges were being shipped from Southern California to the East - what a treat during a cold winter’s day. Labels were pasted on every fruit crate and these labels had large images of oranges and orange groves. With technological advances in soldered cans, canneries popped up all over the country. In order to market their products many California Canneries pooled their resources to form the California Fruit Canners Assn. in 1899. This font was inspired from that era.
