Karl Taylor Photography - Styling and Shooting Burger Photography
https://visualeducation.com/class/food-photography-burger-photoshoot/

Open wide! In this live show, Karl tackles one of the most challenging food shots out there: the mighty burger.

With Georgie busy in the kitchen prepping the food, and Emma helping to fine-tune the lighting, Karl and his team demonstrate the creativity, experimentation and attention to detail that this kind of shoot demands.

Karl sets the shot up using foam chips and burgers as stand-ins for the real thing. Then he brings in a test burger for final refinements to the lighting and composition. Why? Because capturing food when it's freshly cooked is crucial to creating a mouth-watering image.

Top styling tips shown during the shoot include a glaze to make the bun look more appealing, how to melt cheese just so, and how to get that lovely glossy look on the burger itself. As he modifies and refines the lighting - answering viewers’ questions in real time as he works - Karl uses a variety of lighting modifiers and basic studio kit.

Karl Taylor Photography - Creative Product Photography with Speedlights
https://visualeducation.com/class/live-workshop-creative-product-photography-with-speedlites/

Compared with studio lights, speedlights are more affordable and more portable. But getting high-quality results out of them typically also requires more effort, as Karl proves in this live photoshoot, now available to watch as a replay.  Setting himself quite a challenge, Karl limits himself to three speedlights as he photographs two paintbrushes with paint dripping off them, plus a tin of paint in the background.  In this video, you’ll learn how to use speedlights for product photography, including how to achieve gradient lighting by using a homemade scrim, mirrors, and white reflectors.  You’ll also see Karl apply his understanding of angles of incidence and reflection to position his lights correctly.  As he works, he answers audience questions about scrim placement, the benefits of using a histogram, why he opted for a black background rather than a white one, and more.  He wraps up the show with some quick post-production to polish up the final shot.  This class is a great lesson in the importance of modifying and controlling light, regardless of the source. As Karl explains, light is light – it’s what you do with that matters.

Karl Taylor Photography - Photographing White Products on a White Background
https://visualeducation.com/class/photographing-white-products-white-background/

Getting white-on-white right can be tricky. In this live photography workshop, now available to watch as a replay, Karl identifies the main challenges and demonstrates simple techniques for overcoming them.  He begins by explaining ‘pure white’ and how it is identified in the RGB decimal code. This magic number becomes crucial later as he works to separate white subject from white background. He also discusses matt and gloss surfaces and the different ways they reflect light.  As he lights a white jacket on a mannequin, Karl shows how to use flags to prevent background light spilling onto the subject. Lighting the jacket itself, he shows the dangers of over-exposure, and how to use flagging and feathering to get the right lighting ratio to make the subject stand out from the background.  Moving on to a white teacup and saucer, the challenges of shooting a glossy product become clear. Karl explains how image-forming reflections work and why they cause the edges of glossy products to become indistinguishable from. Then he demonstrates an ingeniously simple DIY fix.

Mastering Cinematography in Narrative Storytelling: Oscar Tips on Visual Sentences
https://www.skillshare.com/classes/Mastering-Cinematography-in-Narrative-Storytelling-Oscar-Tips-on-Visual-Sentences/2072865278

Cinematography is more than just pointing a camera and capturing images. The Cinematographer's art is visual storytelling.

Thinking as a cinematographer gives you the ability to use the equipment it takes to achieve the visual narration the scenes require.

A carefully-chosen camera movements and angles can heighten dramatic visualization of the story. A carelessly picked camera shots may distract or confuse the audience by depicting the scene so that its meaning is difficult to comprehend.

How to get started selling stock photos and vectors on Shutterstock
https://www.skillshare.com/classes/How-to-get-started-selling-stock-photos-and-vectors-on-Shutterstock/1077279262
As graphic designers, we have so many options to sell our artwork online, and the best site for selling stock images is Shutterstock (in my opinion)!
I've been a Shutterstock contributor for about 4 years, and I currently have over 6000 images on Shutterstock.

I make a pretty nice side income from Shutterstock, in fact, I earn more from Shutterstock than any of my other side businesses.
