This edit is a good example of how fine detail work can change the whole feel of an image. Join me to see how I achieve my goal of making it low key and matte, but with appropriate highlights and warmth. See the trick that I use to make sure that my subject is covered enough to share on social media, even though she is unclothed. See how to use a blend mode to bring down the highlights at the same time that you warm the skin. This may not seem like a really dramatic edit, but you’ll find that it really changes the image a lot, and accomplishes exactly what I was aiming for!

This is the perfect image to demonstrate for you how I create a flattering portrait, while still allowing an expectant mother to look like her naturally beautiful self. In this video, I’ll show you how I approach a maternity image that has lots of potential, but also some technical challenges. I will walk you through not only the “how” of maternity editing, but also the “why.”

Susan Stripling never knew that she'd end up a wedding photographer. Though she purchased her first camera in high school she went to college to study theatre and dance, obtaining a BFA in 2001. Shortly upon her move to New York city after college graduation Susan realized that the life of a starving actor was not for her and went on to consider several career paths. She waited tables, was a receptionist at a failing dotcom, worked in a Broadway theatre casting office, and finally found her love for photography when she began studying digital and graphic design.

I created this sea monster composite to show how easy it was to edit this with the techniques applied. This is one of the easiest composites available in the membership because the stock graphics already have such an illustrative feel, eliminating much of the work like editing lighting, shadows, color tones or things like that. The final image looked much more like an illustration or a painting.

In this series, instructor Rey Bustos brings you a fun, unique introduction to anatomy of the human body. In this first lesson of the series, Rey shows you anatomy of the lower leg and foot using a variety of methods. Rey will begin by lecturing on the blackboard, and then move to photo references to illustrate key points. Next, Rey will apply muscles and tendons of the leg and foot to an ecorche sculpture, allowing you to view what you’ve learned from a three-dimensional perspective. Finally, Rey will end with an ecorche drawing demonstration over photo references of real legs and feet.

This series of videos is all about standing poses. Learning to master these poses will help you immensely when you don’t have any props, stools or chairs to pose people on or if you’re shooting in a location where it’s not possible to pose people on the ground. Watch as Michele takes us through from posing standing groups of 3 to groups or 7 or more.
