  • Composite Brush from aescripts + aeplugins is a groundbreaking After Effects plugin designed to simplify some of the most complex tasks in digital compositing: creating accurate color-based mattes, isolating elements, replacing colors, and achieving seamless blends with unparalleled control. Built for both beginners and industry professionals, Composite Brush transforms the way artists approach keying, color correction, rotoscoping, and selective adjustments—making intricate workflows intuitive, fast, and incredibly precise.

  • At its core, Composite Brush introduces a unique “paint-to-select” technology that allows you to directly sample pixels in your footage simply by clicking and dragging on the areas you want to isolate. With just a stroke over your image, the plugin intelligently builds a color selection, generating a matte in real time. This workflow eliminates guesswork, complex keying setups, and endless tweaking of hue, saturation, and luminance values. Instead, you get a natural, artist-friendly system that feels like painting a mask, but with the power and intelligence of advanced color analysis.
  • Composite Brush is built to work on the original, unmodified pixel data of your layer, meaning your matte remains consistent even after you apply additional effects higher in the stack. This gives creators a level of stability and predictability rarely found in typical color selection tools. Whether you’re isolating a subject from a background, adjusting specific regions of an image, or replacing a color with absolute fidelity, Composite Brush ensures the selection is clean, accurate, and easy to refine.
  • The plugin supports a variety of matte types—including Hard, Soft, and detailed hair-friendly mattes—allowing you to tailor the edge behavior to your specific shot. Additional controls such as Choke, Blur, Expand, Gamma, and Edge Softness give you all the fine-tuning options you need for professional-level composites. You can use Composite Brush as a powerful keying assistant, a precision color-correction tool, or a fast solution for stylized effects like glow, grading transitions, selective blurs, or dynamic color remapping.
  • This tool is invaluable for motion designers, VFX artists, editors, and colorists working on commercial projects, social media videos, film scenes, broadcast graphics, or creative experiments. It dramatically reduces time spent masking or rotoscoping while delivering results that feel handcrafted and artistically controlled.
