Halation Preset
- Halation simulates the distinctive reddish glow that occurs in film when bright light scatters and reflects within the emulsion layers. Our emulation for Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve and FCPX allows fine control over this effect, letting you adjust the brightness threshold, strength, radius, and even hue and saturation (admittedly, this is not possible with traditional film stock). This level of control ensures a realistic yet customizable halation effect.
Bloom Preset
- Bloom softens highlights by diffusing high-frequency detail, mimicking the dreamy, glowing atmosphere of classic film (filters). It balances clarity (acutance) with subtle softness, creating defined yet cinematic edges. Parameters such as strength, threshold, hue, saturation, and directional softness allow for precise control to achieve the perfect filmic look in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve and FCPX.
Film Grains
- Grain is the backbone of authentic film emulation. Unlike generic digital grain overlays, which are synthetic, we high-resolution scanned real film stock from diverse sources. This process captures the actual silver halide particles embedded in the film, delivering an exceptionally organic and true-to-life texture that digital solutions cannot replicate.
Camera Gates
- Each vintage movie camera has a unique physical mask that shapes the light passing from the lens onto the film. This gate creates subtle imperfections and borders burned into the film stock. We scanned film gates from multiple cameras, including one nearly a century old, to provide a variety of authentic film mattes. These overlays, complete with sprocket holes, instantly add a timeless, vintage character to your footage.
