Ligatures feature is default setting in Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop in Uppercase character. So when you want not to use the ligatures.

Open glyphs panel :

In Adobe Photoshop choose tool Window Character and then please click fi symbol

In Adobe Illustrator choose tool Window Type Open Type and then please click fi symbol
