The objective of the course on Engineering Graphics is to introduce engineering students to the visual science of technical drawing and equip them with graphic skills involved in conceptualizing and presenting engineering designs, structures and products.

This book is designed as an introductory course in Engineering Graphics and Design with complete coverage of both traditional engineering graphics and computer graphics as per the syllabus requirements of Dayananda Sagar University. It aims to create awareness about engineering graphics and emphasize the importance of the subject in the engineering domain. The book covers the basic concepts and conventions of engineering drawing, introduces free hand sketching as a tool for technical communication and highlights the usage of CAD software (AutoCAD 2017) for drafting. It describes methods for geometrical constructions and drawing engineering curves and extends the basics to drawing orthographic projections of points, lines, planes and solids as per prevalent BIS conventions. It further covers the techniques for orthographic projections of sections of solids and development of surfaces. Isometric projections of plane figures and combination of solids blocks and simple machine components are also described. A simple team project for product design is also included.

• Precise content as per syllabus requirement.
• Approach to subject is student friendly and non-assumptive.
• Clearly defined learning objectives at the beginning of each chapter.
• Latest BIS codes used in the chapters (SP 46:2003).
• Separate chapter on AutoCAD 2017 to help understand computer aided drawing.
• Large number of drawings to aid visual learning.
• Topic-wise solved examples with detailed steps of construction wherever applicable.
• Ample practice exercises at the end of each chapter.
• Product design project included.
