In this 5-week course, instructors Michael Cedeno and Kathleen Quaife-Hodge will take you through a super informative journey on how to animate walk and run cycles. Kathleen will introduce you to the treadmill walk and the basic progressive walk. Then, Michael will show you how to take these walks to another level by adding character and attitude. You will also explore the dynamics of animating the basic progressive run and the treadmill run. In this 7-week course, instructor Charles Hu will further your knowledge of oil painting. He will walk you through different figure painting scenarios. You will learn how to develop paintings through multiple sessions, expand your palette, and create multi-figure compositions. With each assignment, you will develop the knowledge that will improve your figure painting toolbox.
In this course, instructor Larissa Marantz will introduce you to the world of picture books. You will learn how to create stories through drawing and writing. Larissa will walk you through every aspect of picture books, including character development, choosing stories, formatting a book, and finalizing full illustrations. She will also lecture on how to get your book professionally published. After this course, you will gain the skills to bring your imagination to life through picture book making.
In week two, you will learn how to establish the light and shadow patterns of the figure in your preparatory drawing. Instructor Stephen Bauman will demonstrate the buildup of the values using graphite and white chalk. You will practice rendering the core shadows and halftones.
