Theportraitsystem - Backlight Shoot + Retouch

Theportraitsystem - Backlight Shoot + Retouch

https://theportraitsystem.com/course/backlight-shoot-retouch/

  • Backlight images are Sue’s most requested. When she asks people which images in her folio they are most drawn to, they almost always say the light or the monochrome ones, even though they are in color. The style gives a very light monochromatic look.
  • In this class, we explore shooting into and retouching the hard and super bright backlight. This can be a hard topic to master, but Sue walks you through it and extends her massive amount of knowledge to teach you how to perfect backlight.
  • This Backlight Shoot and Retouch course is about how much light is the perfect backlight. You will also learn to balance the bounce, chromatic aberration (purple lines in highlights) and what to do with too much haze. Then we will finish by learning the perfect retouch and post-process to get these gorgeous backlit images.
  • In the picture below, Sue was shooting on the beach and as they were finishing at around 2 pm, the light was high. She laid back and asked her model to tilt forward and then shot her straight into the sun. The results are absolutely stunning!

Click Photo School - More than a Snapshot with Maria Manco
Click Photo School - More than a Snapshot with Maria Manco

https://www.myclickmagazine.com/an-inspiring-photography-interview-with-maria-manco/

  • Maria is an Ohio-based stay at home mom to two that loves capturing her kids’ day to day. Like many, she didn’t get into photography until the birth of her first child.
  • She says, “I took him to Portrait Innovations (I know, I know…) for some 3-month photos and spent a small fortune on the photos. I told my husband it would be cheaper for me to get a fancy camera and take the photos myself. I had no idea what I was doing but I caught the photography bug. I felt this need to document everything! About a year later I flipped to manual mode and started taking classes online and reading tutorials and articles every single day. I still do! There is ALWAYS room to grow in photography and that is one of the things I love most about it.”
