Learn how to build your mini collection of greeting cards in Procreate, using lettering, pattern design and more!
In this class, I’ll show you my step-by-step process on how to create a collection in Procreate. Collections are a great way to show off your unique point of view, develop your illustration and lettering skills, and a way to attract potential customers or license your work. By the end of this class, you’ll have your own collection of festive greeting card designs, plus a strategy for building your collections in the future.
In this class I will show you how to make a stand out digital pattern out of paper cutouts. Were going to be very hands on, using scissors and paper to make our shapes, then build the pattern in Adobe Illustrator step by step. Finally we will give the pattern some texture - using the texture effects that comes with Illustrator.
This is a super fun exercise to try if you need to mix things up a bit or are looking for new inspiration. We're going to create a unique textured pattern design, fully vectorized with all the benefits that comes with that.
Most of the texture options out there are made out of raster, like the ones i Procreate for example, but learning to create vectorized texture allows you to be more flexible with your print. It makes it possible to scale your pattern in any dimension you want, and its also so much easier to work with specific colors - Pantone ones for instance, or any other color book that a client might want you to use.
This class will lead you through 4 stages of designing your character with the help of Procreate. This is an example of a workflow that I use and you can take it all or just some parts of it that seem useful to you.
In the class we will cover:
- the creation of the main idea, the concept of your character and working with a moodboard
- developing the character, sketching them in different poses and with different face expressions
- making the sketch for the final illustration
- finishing the illustration in colour using our moodboard for help
In the end you will have a finished illustration of your new character and also character sheets which will help you in your further work with the hero you created.
For the class you will need your iPad, Procreate and an Apple pencil.
The class can be useful for different levels but it’s good to know the basics of working in Procreate.
