- Learn how a professional character artist works when creating characters for games. You’ll learn techniques like blocking out, Cloth sculpting, Hard Surface Sculpting, High poly creation & detailing, and much more all inside of Zbrush.
There is a lot covered in this course, but the main topics include: Creating character anatomy and body forms from scratch Hard-surface modeling directly inside ZBrush Building a character blockout and refining it to the final result Sculpting stylized clothing Creating stylized weapons in ZBrush And much more. In this course, you will learn everything you need to create the final results shown in the images and trailers. The same techniques can also be applied to almost any type of character project. This course contains more than 34 hours of content for Part 1 alone. You can follow every single step, as the entire course is created in real time and fully narrated. We begin by reviewing the reference material and creating the initial anatomy of the character completely from scratch. From there, we refine the main body before moving on to blocking out the hard-surface armor. Once that is completed, we continue with the clothing blockouts and additional accessories, followed by the refinement phase. During this phase, each blockout piece is transformed into a clean final high-poly model, ready for retopology. To complete the tutorial, we also create a hard-surface weapon to give the character even more visual interest. Part 2 will be uploaded soon. Once it is available, we will post the link here. In Part 2, we will turn the character into a final game-ready model, pose it, and render it in Marmoset Toolbag. This game art tutorial is ideal for artists with intermediate-level experience in ZBrush. Everything is explained in considerable detail. However, if you have never used ZBrush before, we recommend watching an introductory tutorial first. You can find many free options on YouTube, as well as paid courses on this website. ZBrush 2021+ Marcos Emilio Cuesta is a skilled 3D Character Artist with around 3 years of experience in the game industry. The course includes a total of 43 videos, divided into easy-to-follow chapters. All videos are numbered, making it easy to find exactly the lessons you want to follow.
