The bawu is a Chinese wind instrument. Although shaped like a flute, it is actually a free reed instrument, with a single metal reed. It is played in a transverse (horizontal) manner. It has a pure, clarinet-like timbre and its playing technique incorporates the use of much ornamentation, particularly bending tones. The bawu likely originated in the Yunnan province of southwest China. It has become a standard instrument throughout China, used in modern Chinese compositions for traditional instrument ensembles.

As the name suggests “Bowed Guitars” is a collection of an acoustic guitar and an acoustic bass played exclusively with a bow. By playing these instruments this way, you´ll get a special and unique string sound: intimate and intensive with slight organic scraping. The bass is available as an amped or a clean version. We used a Martin acoustic guitar and a Harley Benton acoustic bass.

Apocalypse Percussion Ensemble Micro is the compact starter edition of our acclaimed Apocalypse Percussion Ensemble library. The Nocturne Violin is part of Orchestral Tools' new Soloists Series.
