IDA Pro is an interactive disassembler that is widely used for reverse engineering. It is extremely flexible, has a built-in command language, and supports many executable file formats for a large number of processors and operating systems.
With its support for diverse processor architectures and file formats, IDA Pro proves to be a versatile tool for code analysis across various platforms. IDAPython / SDK improvements IDA Pro as a disassembler is capable of creating maps of their execution to show the binary instructions that are actually executed by the processor in a symbolic representation (assembly language). Advanced techniques have been implemented into IDA Pro so that it can generate assembly language source code from machine-executable code and make this complex code more human-readable.
Whst's new in IDA 9.1 (250226) - data: February 28, 2025
This release begins to tackle a number of our 2025 product goals like expanding architecture support for non-mainstream chips and boosting collaborative features, specifically quicker sync cycles within IDA Teams.
We've added several helpers to improve our API user experience. These new endpoints, among other things, streamline managing and operating on types.
We also have a few other goodies to assist with accessibility and usage of our API:
- An updated Porting Guide which reflects recent API improvements
- New IDAPython examples, mainly for the Working with types category
- Revamped IDAPython reference documentation to improve cross-referencing
IDA Feeds
IDA Feeds (aka FLIRT Signature Manager) was released with IDA 9.0. The tool is designed to simplify the application of new signatures through updatable libraries, known as IDA FLIRT Signature Bundles, shipped alongside other out-of-the-box IDA plugins. IDA FLIRT signature bundles are available as a separate download from My Hex-Rays as well.
Improvements: We have streamlined the IDA Feeds plugin execution and resolved issues with loading when idalib could not be located or was not correctly installed. IDA Feeds can now run without explicitly installing idalib. Additionally, there are UI enhancements to make the plugin experience more intuitive.
The unique Hex-Rays Decompiler, which has been developed in response to the need of hundreds of IDA users, is the fruit of more than ten years of proprietary research. Thanks to the speed and scalability of its core algorithms, Hex-Rays does not merely break new ground in the well known C/C++ decompilation problem: it lays foundations for future developments in the field of binary analysis. Hex-Rays SA also expands the power and flexibility of its decompiler through the addition of several new algorithms and by offering an SDK as part of its package.
