  • Borne of pure fantasy, Dargon will prove to be a faithful and artful companion on any quest you set out on. Carved by light, Anne-Dauphine Borione’s Dargon is an epic type family made by and for fantasy themes. Dargon’s future medieval aesthetics make it the perfect typographic companion for fantastic graphic quests of all kinds, on screens or in print.

  • TypeTogether is proud to announce the release of Dargon, the first type family by Anne-Dauphine “Ando” Borione, which was inspired by fantasy role-playing games but proves to be audaciously useful in a wide variety of contexts, from videogame UIs to printed cards to book covers. With five text weights and italics, as well as six uncial display fonts – each named after magic spells – Dargon’s charm lies in the meticulous research and deep understanding of the contexts where it can be used, like video game UIs, card game designs, and book and magazine covers.

  • Winner of the 2024 Gerard Unger Scholarship, Dargon comes from a place of deep understanding and respect for gaming and fantasy culture. Its three year design process involved extensive research into the letterforms and calligraphy of the Dark Ages, and focused specifically on uncial letterforms used between the 4th and 8th centuries. The process also led to the creation of Dargon Text, five weights of serif type with italics that evoke a more enlightened time, but one that still holds magic and beauty.

  • One of the first use cases for Dargon was in the design of role-playing game cards, where an incredible amount of information has to be conveyed in a very compact space while still conveying a swords-and-sorcery aesthetic. This challenge proved to be incredibly useful in other contexts as well, as Dargon is unbelievably practical in videogame UIs. Its text weights prove useful even for longer texts, while still being careful not to break the spells the storytellers are casting.
