Paint System v2.1.0 for Blender

 Blender 4.2 - 4.5

A simple but flexible painting system for non-photo-realistic-rendering in Blender

Key Features & Workflow

1. Brushes & Textures

Custom Brushes:

Locate brush presets (e.g., watercolor, pencil) in the tool panel. Adjust size, opacity, and spacing.

Import custom textures via Texture Settings to create unique strokes.

Real-Time Preview:

Paint directly on the model in Texture Paint mode. Ensure you’re in Material Preview or Rendered View (Eevee recommended for real-time performance).

2. Layer System

Layer Management:

Add/remove layers via a layer stack panel. Adjust blend modes (e.g., Multiply, Overlay) and opacity per layer.

Use layer masks for non-destructive editing.

Material Setup:

The add-on may auto-generate a material with layer nodes. Verify this in the Material Properties tab.

3. Stylized Effects

Presets:

Apply watercolor (soft edges, blending), pencil (hatching), or cel-shading (flat colors) from preset menus.

Tweak parameters like texture scale, color variation, and edge sharpness.

Shading Adjustments:

Combine with Blender’s Shader Editor to mix NPR paints with procedural textures.

Troubleshooting

Paint Not Visible:

Ensure the object has a valid UV map and the correct material assigned.

Check if the paint layers are masked or opacity is set to zero.

Brush Issues:

Verify texture assignments in Brush > Texture settings. Reset to default if missing.

Performance:

Reduce viewport resolution or layer count for complex scenes. Use fewer high-resolution textures.

Advanced Tips

Integration:

Use painted textures as masks for modifiers (e.g., Displacement) or particle systems.

Bake textures (Image > Bake) for export to other software.

Documentation:

Review included guides or video tutorials (if provided) for niche techniques like animating painted strokes.
