• Discotext is a plugin for After Effects created by Plugin Everything which brings powerful trim-paths style controls to live text layers. In essence, it allows motion designers to treat text like shapes — trimming, offsetting, staggering, cloning — with controls that feel natural to anyone familiar with After Effects’ existing path tools.

What It Does

With Discotext, you can animate and manipulate text by:

• Setting Start, End, and Offset values to precisely control how much of each text path is visible or concealed.

• Choosing among different cap styles (Butt, Square, Round) to control the appearance of line ends for the trimmed paths.

• Adjusting dash / gap / offset so you can create broken, dotted, or dashed lines along your text outlines.

• Staggering effects per path or by order modifiers, for sequential animations or ripple-like reveals.

• Cloning and offsetting copies, with transform controls, enabling interesting repeats, mirrored/shifted versions, and more complex visuals.

• Compatibility with most of AE’s built-in text animator properties, which means you can combine Discotext’s features with text animation tools you already use.
