Like any other movie by Christopher Nolan the “Behind the Scenes” footage he provides as extras on Blu-ray are just amazing. The recreation was really fun to do. I did not find any Interview with colorist Kostas Theodosiou about Tenet, but I assume that the color grading was very similar to Dunkirk. And: That it was a “100% photochemical process”, too. Tenet is a straightforward image blending system with one click magic. Unlike double exposure methods, Tenet does not require much attention to source material composition.
Just throw in your imagery and mask it with one of the various dithered PNG assets to create unique compositions with little effort. One background image and a single masked input is enough to produce a unique composite. Multiple inputs can be blended together without disharmony. You can experiment further by moving and scaling the masks or using them as overlaying elements - the possibilities are not finite.
