• A2 Record Gothic is a revival of Ludlow’s Record Gothic typeface dating from c.1920s and c.1950s. This is our attempt to unify and systemise the disparate font styles – bold, wide, condensed and extra condensed to name a few – that were added to the family over the years by the Ludlow Typograph Company.
• Originating in the late 1920s as a ‘copy’ of American Type Founders News Gothic (1908) by Morris Fuller Benton, Ludlow’s Record Gothic existed as a stand-alone font in a single weight for many decades. Additional styles were added in an ‘ad hoc’ fashion, by many different hands, over the coming decades, with each new iteration taking on the stylistic quirks of their time. As a result, Ludlow’s unusual hybrid family has produced a rather charming anomaly in the annals of type.

A2 Battersea Slab Font Family

Battersea Slab is a slab serif font designed to match our sans serif version of Battersea Sans. Battersea Slab retains the letter structure, design and weight system of the original typeface. Battersea Slab is crafted for print and screen usage.

A2 London Font Family

London is a clean and a mechanical serif font inspired, in part, by Edward Johnston’s Underground alphabet. A contemporary design that evokes the past, but also embraces the future. London is available in six weights with corresponding italics.

A2 Afterall Font Family

A concise family of bespoke fonts originally created for Afterall Journal (2003-), and One Work series (2006-), as part of A2/SW/HK's extensive redesign. Afterall Serif was conceived and designed primarily as a text font; with particular focus given to use in long-form features and essays. The typeface is highly readable; creating a balanced impression on the printed page, but with a distinctive voice, including subtle quirks and flourishes, noticeable when used at larger point sizes.

A2 Gothic Font Family

Based on A2/SW/HK's Letterhead Grotesk font designed in early 2000 and still in use today 19 years later. This font is part of the A2 Gothic font system (A2 Gothic Condensed, A2 Gothic X Condensed). Part of the system was designed for special use by CNN online in 2018. A mono-spaced font in a Thin style is now part of the family of fonts. Design note: This specific font family works especially well with our A2 Typewriter fonts!

A2 Battersea Sans Font Family

Battersea Sans is a bold, sans serif font inspired by the typefaces Transport Alphabet, Din and Meta. Originally designed in 1999 as a single style font, the design was remodelled a decade later to include an advanced character set, additional weights and complimentary italic styles.

A2 Foundation Font Family

Foundation is a suite of revival fonts inspired by historical typeface specimens originating from America, France and Nordic countries. Currently, the fonts exist in hairline roman format only, however, multiple weights and styles are planned for future release.
